My Tunes
Today's MyTunes are picked by Paul Jones -24 yrs old. Paul is a Postie from Birmingham who is just setting out on his round.

Killers - Mr Brightside, Nelly furtardo - Maneater, U2 - One, Roger Sanchez - Another chance, Wolfmother - Woman, Hotstepper - Ini Kamoze, Oasis - Materplan, Robbie Williams - No regrets, The Kooks - Naive, Backstreet Boys - Rock your body, Greenday - Time of your life, The Zutons - Valerie, No Doubt - Don't speak. KC & Jojo - All my life.

Good Actual Morning! Yes It's 4am and it's Jembie reporting for duty. (Yes I really am up at this time of the morning)
The boys are back for another great show on Early Breakfast. Laura off of ONWL is producing the show today.

Tracklisting for todays show as follows
Lily Allen - Smile, Arctic Monkeys - Leave before the lights come on, JT - LILY, The Feeling - Never be lonely , Scissorsisters - Mary, Supermode - Tell me why, Raconteurs - , Christina Aguilera - Ain't no other man, Madonna - Sorry, Foo Fighters - The best of you, The Simalu - All This Love, Mousse T Vs Dandy Warhols, Horny As A Dandy, Muse - Super Magic Blackhole, James Morrison - You give me something, Jay-Z & Beyonce - Deja Vu, Rogue Traders - Voodoo child, Razorlight - In the Morning, Paris - Stars are blind,

Love that WAC-a-day jingle that they often play at the beginning of the show.
Good start to the show with a debate over what the Arctics actually say at the end of the new single. I thought it was "Woke you up, what time's the Bust-up!"

Why Jason changed his name from Griffiths to King
So JK became Jason King because Jason Griffiths is a lot harder to say. I have been wondering for a while as Joel already gave us the reason for changing his name from Hogg to Ross. I think Jason King is a lot more Common than Jason Green though which is what JK wanted to change it to. (There is a DJ on my local station called Jason King and my sister's ex is also called Jason King) Then again, it can't be too bad being named after a smooth and suave TV private eye...

What does The Feeling's new single sound like? I think it is a bit like Our house is a very very very fine house by Graham Nash
The texts say...Tom Petty/SuperTramp/Lightening seeds. It is very 80s and could be the theme tune for an 8os sitcom...

Trucking Diesel
Champ is Dave vs Tony today
York to Yeovil - 282.5
Winchester to Whick - 675.3
Chichester to Chorley - 278
Dave wins so gets the visor and goes on to tomorrow.

Trucking Diesel has sparked off a lot of chat on the texts about truckers with flowers but more importantly why would a single straight guy have a pet cat.
Don't you know that cats are great company on a cold night? Joel says that he got the cat when he was in a relationship and had him (Vince) ever since
Discussion with the Newsreader (Leon) who is looking after next-doors rabbit while they are on holiday and doesn't like cats. JK tells us his sister looked after a rabbit for someone once and they never came back for it. Joel looked after someones fish once and it died. (I looked after someone's Hamster once while they were away and thought it would be fun to mate it with mine...No one told me that they would have 12 babies)

Dogs today - JK's favourite magazine. JK found a copy in the JK and Joel early breakfast box and is getting all excited about all the features but sadly they don't do Mystic Mutts bitch-craft. He has found out there is a new TV show - Animal X-Factor. Maybe Joel should enter Vince? Joel tells us unfortunately he still doesn't have his cat and his ex's new man is looking after him now. JK says they should go to Animal court for custody - I am sure Judge Judy would take on the case.

3 best looking footballers - Wayne Rooney, Ruud van Nistelroy (Or as Moyles calls him Van Nistlehorse) and Reo Ferdinand. Joel says Ruud looks like a horse and reveals that he was once in a Bisto add when he was 7. JK says in all the 12 years they have known each other he never told him this before - Pics anyone????

Andy's Basket has become Laura's Basket while Andy is away on his Hols
Prizes today are...
Garfield 2 Union Jack mug
Inflatable Palm tree
Lady's thong - Says "Mind the gap"
Some Yorkshire tea
Some Garfield ears (JK things these are sexy)
Bingo Dabbers
Ferris Beullers day off on DVD

Tracey Vs James
Can't start with the letter B

Name a yellow fruit...
Name a boy band...
Name something you have with Mash
Name the kind of underwear JK wears...

James wins by an easy Knock out

JK Hash-up Will Young Vs Dolly Parton...I missed that one...wanna hear the whole thing!! Joel says JK is tone deaf as this and the Craig David Vs The HouseMartins are severley out of tune. JK plays his Muse Vs Britney Hash-up. This is some great mixing magic...I want the JK Mix Album...there has to be one. He is working on a new one - Coming soon Bananarama Vs The Simalu

TV tonight is a channel five night for Joel. Football all the way although JK will be watching Property ladder which Joel says is in Brighton tonight. I think I will go with Property ladder...gotta watch The Beeney

You say we Play
Joel - Another Level - Freak me (Joel's favourite track to make love to apparently)
JK - LFO -Summer girls

Treena chooses JK's choice LFO...Thank God for that, I will never be able to listen to that Another level track again now with those images planted in my head...

Awww they used to go on holiday together all the time. They went to Sandiego once and LFO reminds JK of that holiday.
Joel says JK is boring to go away with because he loves to go exploring and JK just wants to sit by the pool all the time. I am the same I hate sitting around when I go away. I love old markets and visiting famous landmarks.
JK remembered that he still hasn't given Joel the DVD they made...They decide to end the conversation there as they are starting to sound like a weird old couple. I like hearing about their adventures together - Can I have a copy of the DVD too??

Loads of people wanting JK to do a Mash-up of Paris Vs UB40 but he says he isn't going to do it as it is too easy..I agree, What is there to do? He could just play the single and say that is all his work Wink

Handover this morning starts with Chris taking the mick out of Joel and his Another Level revelations. More Dev impressions from Joel...Chris says he is slowly becoming Dev.
Joel tells of his night out at the pub with 1 vodka and tonic and a Ploughmans but no one was around so he went back home to watch Holidays uncovered. Chris tells JK he should invite him round more instead of living in his huge mansion with his ex-popstar wife.
JK and Chris start to argue over who is responsible for Joel. Joel gets anxious cos they are talking about him like he isn't even there.

It's 7am already and I am whacked so it's back off to bed for me...Till next time

Tuesday 25th July 2006

Welcome back to the early mornings, after 2 weeks on Drive, JK & Joel are back on earlies. Also welcome back to a Tuesday review.

My Tunes

Due to the unique way the BBC is funded, no one on the web team can be bothered to update the mytunes section, and my recording of the show doesn;t start until 5am and can't be bothered to listen again, if you want to know the tunes listen again (if that has been updates)

Trucking Diesel

Today was Dave who was driving a 22 ton and Michael who was driving a 44 ton (thats a proper truck) Scunthorpe to Sckegness-62.9 miles-Dave wins Hull to Hastings-215.4 miles-Dave wins Abergelly to Aberden-503 Miles.

Man Bags

So we are back on our favourite subject. JK said that all blokes whould keep their keys and wallet in their pocket and thinks they are wrong. Joel of course has a man bag which has his i-pod, wallet DVD's, mouthwash, eye cream and a nail file. This is why Joel said he needs a man bag to keep it all in. And according to producer Laura (yes Scott Mills fans that's Laura from Scott's show) man bags are quite camp.

Laura's Basket

Todays prizes are inflatbale palm tree massage kit Drinking Songs (CD) Today was Steve V Amanda Can't start with the letter R Name an animal you keep in a cage-Tiger Member of S Club 7-Fiona (that was the wrong answer) Something you eat with a Curry-Rice (that starts with R) Apart from Brooklyn name one of Beckhams son-Shortie Name something you do with a boook-Tear it up Name Something you measure lenghs with-Tape measure A colour of a bus-blue You Say, We Play JK-K Class-Rythym is a Mystery Joel-Hearsay-Pure & Simple And the winner was K Class

Other Random Stuff

Joel went down the pub where Comedy Dave was with his sister and Joel was trying to eye up his sister, this annoyed Dave a bit. Dom of the Moyles show is learning how to do the Dev impresion off Joel.

Monday 24th July 2006

We're wide awake!,
It's good to know your ready and you're Wide Awake!,
So on your marks and Get. Set. Go!
WE'RE WIDE AWAKE!

Well we are. Since JK and Joel are BACK! on Earlies. It was a good show today...and you know what? They are actually pleased to be back. Less pressure ya see. Anyways, Joel Hogg isn't actually back. True. He had to leave the studio to turn off the alarm at his house. I thought MyTunes was pre-recorded? I thought Joel slept in? No?

Just an inckling- he returned at 5.30.

MyTunes

If you're new to this Early Morning malarky (Lucky You!) MyTunes is a feature between 4 and 5 where you choose the music. It's your personal playlist and you co-host it with JK and Joel. Pretty Cool.
Todays lucky MyTuner was a guy called Ashley- and these were the tunes that he chose:

Matt Willis - Up All Night
Sugababes - Push The Button
Eric Carmen - Hungry Eyes
Son Of Dork - Eddie's Song
Pink - Who Knew
The Kooks - Naïve
Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen
Jamie Foxx feat. Kanye West - Extravaganza
Charlotte Chruch - Mood Swings
Eva Cassidy - Songbird
The Feeling - Fill My Little World
The Streets - Never Went To Church
Melanie C - Never Be The Same Again
Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - (I've Had The) Time Of My Life

Good Choice! Wanna control Radio 1 for an hour? Then get on JK and Joel's Radio 1 online minisite!

Trukin' Diesel

This feature is a bit hard to explain. Basically, you know that most JK and Joel listners are trukers? (Well JK today since someone has "broken into" his flat- maybe..) Todays Trukers battling out for glory were Mark and Jay.

Mark is of of Norfolk and he is the current champion from last weeks' James King show. He is in the yard today getting ready for the boys on the road. "Shunting". Mark would much prefer to be on the road driving his Scania. It's a bendy truck! Jay is travelling from Carlisle to London. He has had a fab weekend- but got seriously sunburnt!

The point of this is to find out the respective trukers knowlege of the UK's road...by asking him how far it is from place-to-place.

The questions today were:

1. Bolton-Birmingham. Jay said 46 miles, Mark said 60.
84.9 miles...goes to Mark.
2. Aberdeen-Andover. Jay said 400, Mark said 465.
521 miles...goes to Mark.
3. Norwhich-Nuneaton. Jay said 186, Mark said 155.

Mark wins...and goes to the Hall of Fame. He wins his own jingle and a signed picture of Vanessa Feltz. He will hang that up and throw darts at it.

bleyfriday.jpg

Well it's finally time to say goodbye to their fortnight stint on Drive in for Scott Mills. They've done well- it's been a excelent drive home the last two weeks!

It was a big night last night....Joel went out on his big date with the girl of his dream. He is quite a sexbomb now- he's dyed his hair, he wore a nice white top (not Wednesdays Serong) and he has cleaned his teeth. He can give it to you any time you come along. Anyway, the date went well. Apart from the fact that he had to sit next to Vanessa Feltz- who seriously scares JK. They talked about Cosmetic Surgery Live. Way in with the convo Joel. As well as this, he saw Orlando Bloom. Orlando has now joined Vanessa as one of Joel's showbiz mates. They left together- but, she didn't ask him in for coffee. It's only the second date- you gotta wait till the third date until they invite you in. Haven't you ever watched Hitch?

Rate my Look-A-Like

frirml250.jpg

Last ever Rate my Look-A-Like today. Yes, it's finally time to shed a tear and say goodbye. Our Last Rate my Look-A-Liker was Matt. He kinda looks like Dave Grohl. In fact, the man IS Dave Grohl. He is 22 years old, and has been skateboarding for 9 years. He is quite fresh and smells nice. He is doing Graphic Design at Southampton Uni. Matt has never used his looks to get a girl, but he has used it to try and get backstage after a gig.
1.
David Eric Grohl
2.
Part-time member of Queens of the Stone Age, Dave Grohl
3.
Former drummer with Nirvana, Dave Grohl
4.
Foo Fighters leadsinger, Dave Grohl
5.
Honestly, he does just look like the Grohl!

So it looks like the winner was Dave Grohl with 100%. Wow! No-one has ever got 100%. However, it is time to say goodbye to this feature. Everyone say Goodbye.
GOODBYE!

Isreal Kae Update

is237.jpg

We haevn't really covered this on jkandjoel.net as much as we should have. Isreal Kae is a Hawiian arist who died back in 1994 of a obesity related disease. You can find more about him on Wikipedia.
Basically, it's a beautiful song and one of those songs which are totally unique. It's been used in ER as well as Scrubs- so you've probaly heard it somewhere before. JK wanted it to be the Summer Song of 2006...since we haven't got a Summer Single yet. Well, JK and Joel have been on the phone to Isreal's record company all week...and we can reveal that it WILL be released on the 4th August.
It has to get to number 1. Just has to.

Radio 1's Six Weeks of Summer

Kayleigh was on the show yesterday...and JK and Joel are dead chuffed she won the live final this morning. She has just touched down in sunny Majorca so the lads rang up....Scott Mills. Well he is much cooler. Scott is happy he has got Kayleigh since they are fun with a capital 'F'. Tonight Scott & team will be hitting the town. However, Scott is having a early night tonight since he has been up early allnight. Chopper is going the other way...he will be rockin' the nightclub BCM and wants to meet lots of woman with 'L' plates. Anyway, Scott's off for a nap now.

kellyosborune150mtv.jpg

The hot weather is still on, and today the UK is offically hotter than hell. (Hell in the USA that is). JK was saying that the hot weather brings out the hotties...and also the celebrities! When JK got into his car he saw ginger haired Chris Evans. JK was hanging with Rod McKenzie.....so Evans will probaly do a "Guess Who" on his Drivetime Show about him. Later on in the evening, whilst walking down a famous London Street....JK saw Patrick Swazey of of "Dirty Dancing". Thats a Good 'un. Last person JK saw on his hot weather stroll through that their London was Trigger of of Only Fools and Horses. Apparently, he is looking trimmer than JK. Shameful.

Rummaging through the "Daily Star" today...the goss was that Kelly Osbourne fancies Joel! Which is a bit odd, to say the least. When she was asked by the Daily Star who she liked at Radio 1, Kelly "smiled" and said "If I've got to do a show on Radio 1 it has to be with Joel. He is kinda cute". However, Producer Phil got onto it and apparently she never said it at all. Sorry, Joel! But remember, there is no smoke without fire....

Rate my Look-A-Like

thur250.jpg

Today's Rate My Look-A-Like was Stacey. She is a 19 year old rebel...and goes out clubbing for fun.
JK and Joel have passed her photo around the office. The office thinks she looks like "the rough one from Eastenders", another one was Nicole of of Hollyoakes a generic member of S Club.
The results were in after 4.30 and were;
1.
Stacey Slater (Eastenders)
(3.9%)
2.
Rebecca Loos
(7.1%)
3.
S Club Clone (face of Jo, hair of Rachel Stevens)
(35.9%)
4.
Nicole off of Hollyoaks
(17.5%)
5.
None of the above
(35.7%)

Total votes: 12181

Guess she looks like the rough one from Eastenders, then.
Congrats.

JK's Minimix

Being known JK and Joel fans by reading this, you will know all about the God that is Annie Mac. Annie Mac hosts a show which is all about beats. Big Squelchy Beats.
Now, she does a minimix every evening from 9 mixed by a superstar DJ. So JK has followed in the footsteps of superstar DJ's to do his own minimix.
From what Matt on the forum could figure the songs were:

Kevin Little-No Letting Go
Mark Morrinson
Shaggy-Wasn't Me
Cant remember the song
Black Eyed Peas-Where is The Love
Justin Timberlake-rock Your Bosy
LL Cool J
Dj Jazzy Jef-Summer time

It was another good mix by JK. He is getting better with a bit more practise. Allthough, it was a bit "Dangerous Dave Pearce". Remember his Late Drive Show? That takes you back..... Lot of people wanted to download it, another said "Great baby music" and a lot of people were saying it reminds them of Jive Bunny.
Don't forget to tune into Annie Mac every Thursday from 9pm. She's Great!

Radio 1's Six Weeks of Summer

If you're listening to the Breakfast Show with Scott Mills this week, you would know that he is off to Magaluff this week. Today's caller was Kayleigh (of of Manchester- you could tell)...and she had to get three or more guesses to be jetting off on Friday.
She had to guess five items that Scott would forget to take in his luggage / manbag. Her top five answers were: Passport (Wrong), Red Wine (CORRECT), a spoon (CORRECT), moisturising cream (EXCITING- THAT IS 3) and Sunglasses. That's Right! So she is off to the big final in London tomorrow. (By the way, she won. So she went to Magaluff.)

Your Call

Last Your Call of this "series". This is since JK and Joel are back on Earlies next week- gutted.
1. Jessie, who is young and excited, has broken up for the Summer Holidays today. She wanted The Automatic "Monster". JK and Joel obviously hated her.
2. Angela, is doing a spot of shopping. She wanted Beyonce and "Deja Vu". She obviously hates JK and Joel.
3. Chris, who is much nicer. He has had a stressful day in a non air-conditioned office. He wanted Bob Marley "Sun is Shining". He didn't answer one of JK's questions. Whats wrong with the Great British Public today?
4. John, needs some Lemonade, to help him polish that Granite. Justin Timberlake and "SexyBack" was needed in his life. Helps with his wrist action, ya see?!
5. Rob is alright. He is a injured Judo Player. He wanted Dave Guetta vs. The Egg. The one of of the advert.
6. A very bored Kana is fine. She is riving from London to Doncaster. She wanted Lilly Allen and "Smile" to help make her Smile. Smashy and Nicey never left.
7. Greg is happy and on the M6. He is happy since he has arrived at Lake Windermere. There is a lot of sheep round there. He wanted Lost Prophets to chill out to. Talking about chilling- JK and Joel are of to the pub. Now.

Good Luck to Joel for his date tonight! We're looking forward to the results on their last day tomorrow on Drive.

Wednesday 19th July 2006

The hot weather reached 39 oC today! If you're not British, you might be thinking whats the big deal. Well it is a big deal in ol' Great Brittania. So JK and Joel had a nice summary feel today.

For those who are bored by the lovely summary vibe don't worry. It's gonna rain tomorrow. Boo.

A lot of the show was spent promoting Radio 1's Six Weeks of Summer which is with Scott Mills this year. A Glaswegian guy was ON today. He had to name five programmes which Scott Mills likes. He came up with; Desperate Housewives, Gud Morning (what is that?!), River City, Richard & Judy and Kathy and Kim. What about Big Brother?! Jeeesus. He is not a member of unofficalmills is he?!
They then had a proper Scott Mills on who gussed that Scott had hosted 2,500 shows since he joined Radio 1 on the 28th September 1998. Which was about right- he has hosted around 2,600. So he is of to Majorca. Lucky Him.

What's Joel Wearing?!

joeloutfit.jpg

JK was all hot and bothered today. Don't worry stalkers of JK- his day as brightened up by Joel's outfit today. Well, it put a smile on Colin Murray and his faces.

The picture is just above us- and I don't think it's that bad. However, JK things he either looks like a really fat member (Gary?!) of Take That in the video to "Pray". Or he looks like Tubbs of of Crockit and Tubbs. Never watched it myself but JK opened the show with the theme tune which was mildely cool.
The show continued with constant mocking of the poor Joel Hogg. Aaaah. JK kicked off a text vote asking if he looked either "Old Spice" or "surfer dude". The averages came out...and it seems most girls think Joel looks hot. However, most boys think he looks a bit...Barry Scott. Another text says he looks like Elton John's florist. Bless.

Rate my Look-A-Like

Helen Shaw's son is brilliant and she is todays "Rate my Look-A-Like". She is told she looks like Pink because of the clothes and the tatoos. She is a bit of a punk rocker at heart. She is told of of a mate that she looks like Pink.

Other offers by people in the office was Vicky Fowler of of Eastenders, a generic hairdresser, Pink and one of the ones from the Young Ones. Lots of votes today 13566. Which is a max. Well done to the Radio 1 web team for that! (Does that sound patronising?!)

Chappers Chat

Last year on the Mercury Awards Chappers chose Anthony & the Johnsons as what he thoguht would win on the Mecury prize. Chappers' prediction was correct and Anthony & the Johnsons won!

When he got his prediction right, in October 2005, he said that the "Guilimoes" would win it. "The Guillimots" HAVE been nominated today....and Chappers is sticking with his prediction. He is just following his gut instict. Ya.

Your Call

Average Your Call today. You just can't beat Mondays! Here were the Your Callers today:

1. Marissa is really enjoying the Sun, but is sad about her friend Joanna leaving her house for home. She wanted Christina Agularia and "Ain't no other man".
2. Rachel of of Hawlow in Essex is sunbathing in the garden and wanted a bit of Chillis with "By the Way".
3. Paul of of Oxford needed Mousse T with "Horny as a Dandy" in his life. We played it.
4. Adam, who is hot and sweaty in a hot and sweaty traffic jam on the M25 wants Gnarls Barclay with "Crazy". He thinks JK and Joel are entertaining. He should join this fansite.
5. Marie is over the moon about her new car (her last one was a write off). Its got a CD Player and everything. She requested a bit of Madge with "Get Together".
6. Crag is a Chef (Not a Chief) and wants Chris Brown- "Give me that". What a awful choice.
7. Wes- nothing to do with "Hi This is Wes"- has been recooperating following his sun-stroke. To help him he asked for some Zutons with "Why won't you Give me Your Love".

JK and Joel are back tomorrow, when it will be rainy, from 4. I'm out on Friday night...so all Drivetime reviews will be done and dusted on Saturday morning. I will feel a bit sad when it's all finished.

It's Tuesday, it's hot and JK and Joel are back in the afternoon

Hot Weather

According to Joel, in the hot weather all the girls look fit, someone on thext said that it may be something to do with their sunglasses hiding their faces, JK then asked if he was to go outside radio 1 taking pictures if it would be true, Joel replied you would probably get arrested. They then spoke to a BBC weatherman who confirmed that tommorow will be the hottest day of the year, that will jeep Joel happy then. This led to a discussion about fit weather girls on TV and apprarently that there are non on the BBC, this led to texts from people saying that there are on BBC local TV.

Rate my Lookalike

Today's listener is Naomi from Cambridgeshire

She thinks that she looks like Hermione from Harry Potter, others though she looked like Anna Friel, someone from 90's pop band B*witched and Martine Mccutcheon,Most people though that she did look like ermione from Harry Potter.

Other Random Stuff

Joel met a girl last night and walked her home, apparently it's the fgirst time in years since he's walked a girl home, he text JK afterwards, you can imagine the reaction he got from him.

JK wants the government to introduce "Siesta's" in the UK as our summers are getting hotter so we need to rest more. A good idea but like Joel said if you go to Spain and go out in the afternoon, no where is open and surely nureses wouldn't be able to take breaks.

Your Call

Tonights "great" tunes were:

1. Gnarles Barkly-Smily Faces

2. Kelis-Milkshake

3. Sunset Stippers-Falling Star

4. Keane-Crystal Ball

5. Snow Patrol-Chasing Cars

Thats if for today's show, not a bad show easy listening but nothing exciting happened, remember to tune in 4pm for the rest of the week as they look after Scott's show.

So on Friday its "Only Bley Friday!"...now its Monday "Its Only Bley Summer!" JK and Joel are loving the record breaking heat...so much so there is funny heat wave haze in the roads. Also, JK's ring tone is the "Top Gun" theme. Guess Summer is really here then! If you're going out this week, remember, "Slap it on, before you wack it on!". Sorted.

Matt Willis on the Blower

So if you're missing JK and Joel being on the phone to Sara Cox in a feature lovingly dubbed by this review service called "Cox in the Stables".
Today we had "Willis on the Blower". That's Matt Willis of of Busted. He is about to go out for a bog-standard haircut since he is going to the "Stormbreaker" premiere tonight. Matt Willis' new track is the brand new single of the week....as well as the soundtrack to "Stormbreaker".
It was a good track, it's single of the week and it's called "Hey Kid". Its alright, but you can't add it to your mySpace. So I don't like it. So there.

Your Call

Today's "Your Call" had a distinctly summary feel. You had to choose a track related to Summer. At least someway. Here were the Your-Callers on today:

1. Cockney Courtney was sitting in the garden with her feet in the old paddling pool listening to Radio 1. Bliss. She wanted Lilly Allen "Smile".
2. Mario, an Italien in London enjoying the weather. Mario wanted Editors and "Sparks". He wanted to do a shout-out for his brother, his sister, his neighbour, his cousin, his sister-once-removed, his.....
3. Lee and Emma got married last weekend. Aaaah. They're having a barbie mate. He is picking a song for his amour- Paris and "Stars are Blind".
4. John, who is a huge Razorlight fan looking forward to them being in the live lounge with the Zipper, wanted "In the Morning".
5. Nikki in Salford is going out in Lincoln tonight. P.A.R.T.Y. She should mind that hill, though. Nikki wanted Chemical Brothers with "Galvernise".
6. Ben in Guilford has no air conditioning. In a Garage. Ouch! He wanted a bit of Christina Agularia with "Ain't no other man". Thats for Lauren listening through the information superhighway in Pennsylvania, USA.
7. Alan, what a name, is a hot insurance broker. Temperature wise. He wanted Smash Mouth with "Walking in the Sunshine" of of 1997.

>>OTHER RANDOM STUFF WE LEANT TODAY<<

1. JK and Joel played lots of summary tunes. Including one from deceased singer Isreal Kay. The lads want to release and make it the summer sound of 2006.
2. JK is cleaning out his Garage tonight and putting everything he owns into a big ol'skip.
3. Scott Mills is off to Majorca or Radio 1's Six Weeks of Summer. JK and Joel think they will be off to Wales. They never go on holiday with Radio 1 ever. Except Ibiza 2004. See the picture archive. Sigh.

Nice summary tunes today! JK and Joel are here Monday-Friday from 4 to 7.
Keep it jkandjoel.net!

"Hey Ho! It's Sunday...It's 4 O' Clock and It's the only chart that counts!": no, we haven't gone back to 1998....its the New Look Chart. Which is basically the old look chart with the Retro. Well, you don't get the top 40 played in full on any other station, do you? Wes Butters will be turning in his metaphorical radio grave.

Turning in his Rado Grave. Just look at him. Aaaah.

Well, you can't say its been a uneventful week on Drivetime... the lads have given away tickets to the Superman Premire, Joel has stripped for Girls Aloud and someone has won tickets to meet Justin Timberlake. Things can only get better as well, so they say, so god knows what is in store for us next week. However, first we have to get only bley Friday finished with- and the Wonder Years!

JK and Joel had a ball at the Superman Premiere this weekend...the wine was most definately ON. You can go on the forum now to hear their interview with Brandon Roth. The prize-winners all had a amazing time as well. So that was nice. Unfortuntly for Joel, he had such a showbiz time hangin' with Kevin Spacey and Brandon that he forgot about Girls Aloud! So no Joel stripping! Jembie was looking forward to seeing that...

Rate My Look-A-Like

frirat50.jpg

Its gripped, nay gripping, the nation over the past week. It's Rate My Look-A-Like. She was Sara. Sara got half a day off on a Friday. Her and her boyfriend are off to Waymouth for the weekend. It is hot though, so it shouldn't be too bad.

She thinks she looks like Paris Hilton. It's the nose. Other guesses were Chantelle, Dawn of of The Office and Emma Bunton. The winner was Paris Hilton. So congrats to Sara?!
She hasn't got the voice of a dirty old man. Here were the Results:
1.
Paris Hilton
(25.3%)
2.
Chantelle
(24.3%)
3.
Emma Bunton

4.
Lucy Davies (Dawn from The office)

5.

JK's Mash Ups

Todays mash-up came at the beginning of the show. Since, it was only bley Friday and all that. JK was a little big rough after the Superman Premiere last night...so todays mash up wasn't up to his usually high standards.

The mash up was Christina vs. Girls Aloud with "Dirty Party". It was alright. In fact it was so good that we found out that JK didn't actually make it. Lies all Lies! Oh well, hopefully we will get some REAL JK mash-ups tomorrow.

The Wonder Years

IT'S ONLY BLUMMIN' FRIDAY!

You know what that means don't ya?! Yep, wonder years are on - and that means us playing an absolute stonker of a tune from every year between 1991 and 2002.

All Dressed Up

Joel got new clothes for the premier this evening but has label hanging out (Ahh that is my thing, I have to sort people's labels out). JK still taking the michael and says the label is from Evans (Didn't know they did mens clothes now) I think he looks very smart if that matters.

Rate My Look-A-Like

He thinks he looks like Brendan Cole but i have no idea who that is - He looks like Jon bon jovi to me.
Joel reads out the list from around the office -

JK's Mash Ups

Played JT Vs VI...Excellent. JK is proud of it and rightly so...I am surprised I hadn't heard that before.

New Mash-up which JK is very proud of and can't stop listening to is Muse with Super Massive Blackhole Vs Britney Spears Do Something. OK yeah it is good. I don't really know the Britney song and you actually can't hear the join. WELL DONE JK!!! Soon you will have enough for an album...Which I will very much look forward to.

The Superman Premiere

supermanreturns1.jpg

James is suitably wearing his pants over his trousers for the review. (Oh darn I can't see on the webcam)
As he has already said on Jo Whiley's show, its great.
He gives the boys the low-down about the film and JK asks if Joel needs to have seen the others but James says he doesn't need to have seen it but there is a bit that scrolls up at the beginning to remind you about what happened before - Joel can't read that though cos of his cataracts but JK can whisper to him...(I wanna go NOT FAIR!!! not bothered about the film of course but just want a night out with the lads OK so I am no substitute for a fit celeb girlfriend but I can chat about wrestling with Joely if the movie gets boring)
Found out 2 things about Joel - He has never seen Top Gun but likes Pearl Harbour (YAY Ben Affleck), Scooby Doo and Weekend at bernies 2 (Cool film!). He has never seen any of the Superman movies or the TV shows. Loves Jaws never seen Crocodile Dundee but seen the second Police Academy. Joel is as hit and miss with movies as Scott Mills and that is starting to worry me.

On todays show the lads were giving away the two LAST pair of tickets! I really wanna go :( First 2 callers don't know Superman's earth parents so next is Adam who also lucks out so it goes on...Google is your friend if you really want to go, shame it is too far for me to get. Aaron gets the right answer - Jonathon and Martha Kent. Well done Aaron you are obviously a true fan, I am very jealous but sure you'll have a great time.

Since Joel Still hasn't found a date for the premiere he wants mariah for his celeb girlfriend (Why? she is just a skelton with boobs...Oh I see)
So today JK gets Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud. Of course it's Cheryl Tweedy's hen do tonight but she tells Joel that they had trouble getting a stripper. JK says he can wear the superman outfit that they have been sent.
So Joel is sorted, he is going to the premier then down to sit on Cheryl's knee in the sexy Superman outfit.
Watch out for the Papperazzi Joel...
Joel has lost his stomach now but still has his man breasts, JK suggests asking Brandon Routh to give him some workout tips. Maybe he could do some press-ups on stage before the premier tonight...maybe not..Big Nose? No don't start that argument.
Joely seems to be looking forward to dressing up as Superman for the GA girls this evening.
Now Tim from accounts has blown Joel out so he has no one to go to the premier with.
Jk has one last bash at setting him up with someone...Brian Dowling, (Now that isn't funny) As goes it, Brian is going out with someone else tonight but would still rather go with JK...I could be cruel and say wouldn't we all but that wouldn't be true at all. Brian suggest Nadia from BB and Joel suggests Narinder.

Cox in the Stables

Lovin the music again. JK mentions that everyone was cryin on the show last night. Sara says they are so close now that it is very emotional voting each other out. Tonight they are making up their own courses, then a relay race which sounds like fun..looking forward to that. Don't forget to text Sara to 84466 to help raise money for Sports Relief!!! That's what it is all about.

Your Call

1. Kerry wants RHCP - Tell me baby. Oh well we can't all have good taste...
2. Antonella is Italian and wants Bob sinclar World hold on. That's more like it.
3. Natalie wants Justin Timberlake - Lovin it. This always makes me hungry for some reason...
4. Charlotte in Lincoln wants a bit of Pink
5. Michael on the way to Manchester wants Kanye West (toilet break then)
6. Last choice tonight is from Charles and what a great track to end on..Snow Patrol Chasing cars *sigh*

vaness.jpg

Some Random Bits and bobs from me now (makes a change):

1. Joel did single review for a 'teen' mag but he doesn't like Beyonce much (Same here) JK on the other hand loves it, maybe he should have done the magazine review. Didn't mention which magazine it was though...Come on Joel you know I want to go out and buy it if you are in it.

2. They are watching Richard and Judy on TV, JK wonders who the guest is cos they are showing clips of the new Jen Aniston movie - Break-up so he wonders who the guest is and gets disappointed as it is Vannessa Phelps... JK had a dream about Jen Aniston and Joel dreamed about Vannessa Phelps last night - Worlds apart you have to admit...

3. Joel got new clothes for the premier this evening but has label hanging out (Ahh that is my thing, I have to sort people's labels out). JK still taking the michael and says the label is from Evans (Didn't know they did mens clothes now) I think he looks very smart if that matters.

Well as It's Premier night, Popcorn and a Large Pepsi I think. Lets Hope that JK and Joel have a great night out and maybe Joel will meet the girl of his dreams along the way (Well not the ACTUAL Vannessa Phelps but you never know)

Have a great Weekend and I will be back on Tuesday BYEEEEEEE!!

Hiya Guys! Jack is back for Wednesdays reviews! Ta to Jembie for yesterday. I enjoyed that Curry and Beer. She is back tomorrow for Thursday Reviews, Jembie fans!

Summer is ON today. 28 degrees in London- so the shorts are out as far as every man (or woman) in the UK are concerned. Except JK and Joel. Joel is wearing brogues. Yes ladies- thats B R O G U E S. Sexy. JK is wearing shorts and trainers with white socks. This, according to Joel is a big fashion faux pas. Thank you Joel Hogg- Fashion expert. Is it only me who thinks "Who actually cares"? Anyway, No one looks at your feet! It did provoke some debate on the text though. According to many people, including Scott from Cumbria, you should tuck your socks under your feet when wearing shorts. Other people said to wear football socks a la Tierre Henry. Where do these people come from? Anyway, JK eventually decided to go barefoot. On the nice new studio carpet. Nice One.

It's the craze thats, quite literally, storming workplaces everywhere! Its Rate a Look-A-Like! Today's Rate a Look-A-Like is Aaron from London. For all your fact fans, he has a polish dad and comes from Australia. Thats hot. Aaron is wearing a frilly shirt (see left). For fans of frilly shirts, he got it from Camden Market. Coolio. According to him, a lot of people tell him he looks like Vince Vaughan. The nation agreed with 23.9% of the vote. Other celebs that people thought he looks like included Ricky Wilson, Frank Jr. (of of "Friends") and Dane Bowers.

The Superman Premiere

jennyfalconer.jpg

Joel split up from his girlfriend last weekend. Nooooo. So, he needs to find a date to go with him to the Superman Premiere. The girl of of "Hollyoaks" was cleaning her oven, and Jenny Falconer was turned down by Joel because it was Jenny Falconers mum who really wanted her to go. Not her.
So it was Izzy of of 'Neighbours' and the 'Rogue Traders' who was next to be asked by JK to take Joel to this bley premiere. She said no, as she was "too busy" but would of liked to go with JK. Since JK is hot. Guess its Tim from accounts who is going to the Superman premiere with Joel, then.

However, there were five tickets to give away for YOU and four mates to go. You would meet Brandon Roth and everythin. It was, sadly, not me but Lacey who got through on the old phone today. She sounded like Fearne Cotton (which is a good thing). She promised to JK and Joel that she wouldn't talk to Brandon tomorrow night, however JK said that she would restrain her if possible.
Next on the line, just before 'Your Call', was Mitch. Mitch was a wee bit camp- thats from Joel Hogg, darling. Mitch had to answer three questions about "Superman". He didn't answer the last question in time so on came.....Gareth. Gareth was excited. Gareth won. Gareth would be going tomorow. There were tears people. Aaaah.

Cox in the Stable

On the phone to Sara Cox still. Aint the girl of of Bolton doing well? She aches like Nana Moon, but, is getting Jennifer Aniston arms. In todays surreal world of "Only Fools on Horses", Anthony Head (of of Buffy), taught Sara Cox how to massage Horses. Joel asked her if she would practise what she has learnt on him before Sunday's Chart Show. She, of course, complied. Tomorrow, if she is kept in, (TEXT "SARA" TO 8446) she will teach Joel how to Horse Whisper.

JK in the Mix

JK was doing a 'mash up' of the Tom Robinson Band with "2..4..6..8" and Razorlights, "In the Morning". It did start excentlly...but did get a bit worse as time went on. Some good potential names for the mash up came in on the old 81199. Producer Andy, the one with the box, thought it should be called "Razor Robins Light Band 2..4..6..8 Mornin'". Joel came up with "Toms Razorlight band in the Morning". Wadda you think? Get on the forum with other like-mided JK and Joel fans and discuss it!

Your Call

Todays Your Call was MC Hammer themed. Don't ask. Here are the tunes YOU chose:

1. Ash who works in Halfords and has spent all day selling bikes and tyres wanted Supermode and "Tell me Why".
2. Jodie, a very cute nervous girl on the phone, wanted Nelly Fertado and "Man Eater". Bit of a clash there. Jodie doesnt know who MC Hammer is. Just get off the phone.
3. Amy of of Belfast has two horses called Bramble and Pepper. Good names, Amy. She has lots of rosettes and has been voting for Sara Cox on 8446. Good Girl! She wanted McFly and "Please Please".
4. Sam, a lovely lady wearing Factor 50 sun cream, wanted Gnarls Barclay and "Smily Faces".
5. Paul is football training on the outskirts of Leeds. He wanted the Kooks with "Niave". He got the Kooks.
6. A Tooner was on. He was Phil, who didnt actually want the Ordinary Boys and "9 to 5". He wanted Jamie Lidell. But he was doing the call for his 14 year old son.
7. Last on Your Call tonight was Lee. Lee was pulled over on a Car Park and wanted "21 Question" by 50 Cent for his girlfriend. Good love song that.

Last "Your Call" of the week tomorrow. Want to get in Early? Email jkandjoel@bbc.co.uk . I will back on Friday when Its Only Bley Friday! and you get the Wonder Years. Jembie Tomorrow and JK and Joel will be giving away their last pair of tickets to that Superman premiere.

Keep it jkandjoel.net !

My turn today - Hi I'm Jen - And what a great start to the show with 2 great tracks...(well not really as I can't stand either tracks but it made a good opening line)

Rate my Look-A-Like

tue_rate.jpg

Laura Grossman aged 23 from London was todays "Rate my Look a Like." Joel obviously liked her and told her that she was very beautiful. Laura told us that she works for Mayhew animal home. JK has cats from the cats protection society and dogs from the dogs home...but less about him back to Laura... she has also been told she looks like Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston.

Joel says the Radio 1 office thinks she looks like Cameron Diaz, Heidi of of the Sugababes, Becca from Hollyoaks or Claire Goose.
JK thinks she has the hair of Jen, face of Cameron and looks like Becca. Hmm trying to visualize that...
So the public vote went like this
5. Heidi
4. Claire goose
3. None
2. Becca
Most thought she looks like....
CAMERON DIAZ!

Personally, I agree with a text that came in saying she looks like Elliott from Scrubs (Sarah Schalke).

Everyone Looks like Brad Pitt

JK reckons that Nick from Rooster has had a new haircut that makes him look like Brad Pitt. Then Joel chimes in that JK also thinks that Graham LeSaux looks like Brad Pitt so that is no recomendation. So they look at Rooster's video and no one agrees with JK (I will hold off with my opinion)

Joel needs to charge his phone but is it illegal to plug it into a BBC main?
He shouldn't have his phone on in the studio.
JK lets us know that although it is a Flip-flop free zone today, Joel is wearing white brogues which he reckons is fine cos Ronan wears them. I think all this fuss over shoes is ridiculous...Who cares what Joel is wearing on his feet

So did anyone watch Love Island last night ? (No thanks)
JK was shattered but watched a bit of Only fools on horses. Was love island any good? Joel says the (office) consensus about love island is that it is rubbish but JK says it will get going once you get into it. You always say you aren't going to watch don't you but you just switch it on for a couple of minutes then before you know it you have a favourite and everything...How long till you are re-arranging your evening viewing to fit around it? Well I don't think I will, I didn't watch the last series either...no one in it that I want to drool over (ooops)

The Justin Timberlake Final

justin_timberlake.jpg

So to get yourself and a mate to the most intimate of sessions with Justin himself and Scott Mills...with a mini orchestra, you get a statement from Justin read out by the DJ and then you are asked questions afterwards. (I would have been so crap at this since I just remember the last sentence of a coversation)

Nicola Hedges, 22, from Oxford who got 28 points on Scott's show this morning and Samantha from Edinburgh who got 18 points on Colin and Edith's show had to battle it out on the drivetime show this evening to win those tickets:

Nicola got 10 correct answers

Samantha got 10 correct also... so its Tie-breaker time!!

Question: Tie-breaker...In nautical miles how far from London Heathrow to Memphis airport?
Answer: N 9500 S 1500

Answer is 3782...so Samantha wins. Congrats to her from jkandjoel.net. We're VERY jealous!

Superman Premiere

JK and Joel weren't just giving away tickets to see Justin Timberlake. They were also giving away tickets to see the premiere of "Superman". Along with new Superman Brandon Roth!

The First caller was Jennifer - she had to answer the 3 following questions:

1. What is name of Superman's secret id?
2. What is Superman's home planet called?
3. Where is the daily planet?
Jennifer got them all right and is going off to the fancy premier on Thursday with her 5 friends....not 3 as previously thought. Talk about just giving stuff away.

Cox in the Stables (sounds a bit dodgy!?)

saracox.jpg

Joel say all the djs doing reality shows at the moment...Fearne in Love Island; Sara in Horses and...Vernon in BB (ROFL!)

Sara had a good night. Lets us know they are racing tonight but sounds like she is as she is talking 20 to the dozen. Has a lovely physio for massage and toning.

She has lots of blisters on her ankles and seems to be walking like a Reindeer hit by a truck.

She woke up this morning with Krusty the clown hair. Said Sally was ready to go and Diarmud(sp?) is a naughty boy (Gives me the creeps to be honest) Tonight is a knock-out but hoping not to get knocked out literally. Scott thinks showjumping is easy so JK tells Sara about the vote Scott campaign to raise money to get him to ride in a Robin hood costume. She says she will get voting for Scott too.

Joel's Celebrity Girlfriend

Well what a let down cos they didn't have time but JK had a text message from someone in the newsroom about going to the premier with Joel. He can't talk about it until tomorrow now though...

Was also looking forward to JK's Mash-up today Razolight Vs Tom Robinson Band but they didn't have time for that either..Ho Hum.

Have to wait till tomorrow I suppose.

So, unless you have had your head stuck in the stand for the past couple of days, you know that JK and Joel are OFF Earlies and ON on drive. This means the new time for JK and Joel (for the next two weeks anyway) will be 4-7pm whilst Scott Mills will be on brekkie.
"Why all these Changes?" I hear you cry! Well it's all because Chris Moyles is on his holiday. This DJ might explode. Annie Mac will be on Earlies and JK and Joel will be joined in the studio by Tulip Mezunda and Kev Geegan. Producing the show will be Andy of of Early Breakfast this week, and Phil of of the Chart next week. Got it? Let's go then...

Rate my Look-A-Like

mon_rate.jpg

Scott Mills fans will know that he does Rate my Listner eveyday on Radio 1. Since this is drive with JK and Joel they wanted to do something a wee bit different.....hence, Rate my Look-A-Like. This means you have to decide who they look like from the picture.

Todays Rate my Look-A-Liker was Mark Fowler from Christchurch. Insert vegetable stall joke here. Mark Fowler is a guillotine operator, ladies, (paper not blood) and he thinks he looks like Justin Timberlake. Ahem. This is all based on what a drunk single girl told him in a dark nightclub. As you can see, this is not the case. He is more like a mash up of Robbie Keane and Tim Vincent- Robbie Vincent. Other suggestions were a battered David Beckham and Michael Carrington of of Spitting Image. However, the celeb he looks most like is "None of the Above". Guess he was wrong about that Justin Timberlake thing then.

Flip Flop Galore

JK and the Joel are the Morcombe and Wise of Radio 1. Right!? They do everything together. Earlier today Joel was feeling all European and decided to go for a nice stroll down the highstreet with a nice pair of flip-flops...and JK.

However, this joy soon turned to terror as JK stood on the end of his flip-flop breaking the thong of the flip-flop. He did make up for it by buying Joel a brand spanking new pair with Brazil insingnia, however, JK feels flip-flops are just...wrong. He wants them banned. This caused a bit of a mass debate on the text with woman saying it turned them on, whilst men said it turned them off. Flip Flops. Eew.

They even had a caller from Devon ON who said he thought flip-flops were cool. Even David Beckham wears them. This turned into a pledge for a chart rundown of the top 5 Celebrity Flip-Flop wearers (dumming down of the BBC? Never!). They were:

1. Scott Mills
2. David Beckham
3. Justin Timberlake
4. Michael Greco
5. Callum Best

The Premiere of Supeman Returns

supeman.jpg

"Superman Returns" will be released soon and JK and Joel have got tickets for YOU and a mate to go. If you tune into tomorrows show, you could have a chance of winning them! Brandon (who is superfit, apparently) will be there, as well as the lads. However, Joel will be minus a girlfriend. Poor Joel :(

So, JK promised to find Joel someone to go with. Joel wanted Andy from accounts to go with him, but JK was determined to find Joel a fit celeb partner. He has Suzanne Shaw- surely he could get Deirdre Rachid of of Corrie? The answer was, no, of course. JK found a fit bird from Hollyoaks. Only she wanted to go with JK. She was also cleaning her oven. Thats a no then, Joel. Guess it will have to be Andy from accounts.

JK goes to the Cinema

JKs sister was down in London for the weekend and to celebrate she wanted to go to the cinema and see the "Pirates of the Carribean" sequal. However, due to the hype it was fully booked. Boo! The only free showing was 11.50- and since JK doesnt like his sister that much, they went and saw "Over the Hedge" instead. Rubbish.

So JK got back to work this afternoon and in his tray he saw the Tiesto remix of "Pirates of the Carribean". I think I say what everyone is thinking by saying...WTF?! It had one soundbite of the film- a sword swashing in the wind. Great. Judge Jules would love it- but JK thinks he could do much better. Joel just wants to play the new Paris Hilton record. "The UB40 feat. Gwen Stafani track".

DJ JK in the Mix

JK therefore tried to beat Mr. Tiesto. As Joel said, whilst normal people go to the pub when there bored...JK goes on his computer and does remixes. Coolio.

Todays 1 minute remix was "Karate Kid vs. JK"....and it was surprisingly good! If you want to download you will be able to do so shorly on the "Sound Vault". It will blow your mind. "Wax on. Wax off."

Chattin' to Coxy

solomon173173.jpg

Lovers of Cox will know that she is currently starring in "Fools on Horses". Its all for chariteee mate. Its basically a reality show where celebrities have to do showjumping on horses and YOU the public vote for your favourite rider.

Since Sara Cox is the most famous rider on there, it seems probable that she will win. However, she does need your votes. So does Soloman her horse. Did you know he hates whips? Hes a sensitive horse. Moving on.....

Joel feels that he should apply for "Love Island" (Dont mention the Celebrity bit) since it would be two months in the sun and he would be surronded by fit girls. They all look like they have been to the same hairdresser and dentist though! Does that matter?

Your Call

6.30 on Radio 1 YOU choose the music for half an hour. Suggestions could have actually been off the playlist today! Anyway, here are todays your callers:

1. Laura, who was first on, wanted Bob Sinclar "World Hold on" to kick it all off.
2. Throaty Amy, who was in the process of moving, wanted Sean Paul "Never be the Same". Crap Choice.
3. Sam, the sad removal van, wanted the Killers- "All these things that I've done". He wins todays prize Your Caller! Best choice yet.
4. Bonnie wanted "Supremo". Its all good in Bonnies life at the mo since her friend is coming round.

Sunday 9th July 2006

New format for the Chart Show...we're talking Chart Relaunch! Girly scream!

The new Chart means they play ALL of the top 40 tracks. After four years of complainin', its finally happened. Back to the way Mark Goodier used to do it. Im surprised. Anyway, it does sound much better for it. Congrats Radio 1! Also, congrats on the new RAJAR figures. Could they beat Hit40UK soon?

The lads spoke to Lilly Allen, the new number 1, on the phone and gave away a gold disk from Justin Timberlake. Awesome, man. The podcast with all the best bits of the show is out NOW! So download it. If you don't have it on your generic mp3 player you are a freak.
