Daniel Powter is this weeks number 2

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY JK AND JOEL!!!

A rather throaty JK and Joel returned after a weeks long holiday accompanied by some great sounding new jingles (think the old ones only slower) and a new bed! JK holidayed in Temby in the sodden rain whilst Joel sunned it up doing karaoke singing James Blunt in Eygpt!
They gave their slanted view of some brand new upcoming tracks; Akons Belly Dancer was up for discussion with the question; is it erotic or not? Personally, yes but Joel bellydancing with his little sunburned pot belly, tends to be a turnoff. The intro to the great new single from the Magic Numbers- Love me like you was compared to that of the Only fools and Horses theme tune.
JK and Joel spoke to Bananarama- a dream of Joels since he is an obsessive fan- like really obsessive. So much so that Joel could name 20 out of 23 Bananarama hits. How could he forget preacher man? Anyway the dirty man got to speak to them. It was the usual celeb smaltz and was not anything special. There was a bit of talk about the usual Divaisms like the fact that they were too hot to speak to the Queen of Thailand. Anyways Bananarama smashed into number 14 after 13 years away- yay.
They also spoke to Canadian Robbie wannabe Daniel Powter who was very pleased to get to number 2.

The Retro
Musically one of the highlights of the Radio 1 week; Sundays, 5oclock, the Retro. Mixed by our very own DJ extraordinaire JK. So what year was it with the great prize of judging the Nuts Boardmaster Babes competition? Well just some of the clues were; The opening of the Channel Tunnel-Girls who like boys-Jamariquie Spacecowboy-Beck Loser-East 17 Stay Now-Nelson Mandela becomes president-Dont need nobody and The Prodigy No Good.
So the year was; 1994 and big congratulations to Karl who won by answering simple quiz questions without saying the letter N.

The Album Chart
James Blunt remained at the top of the Album Chart this week with Back to Bedlam- its not that great! Better slip down the chart next week; why not buy the new Magic Numbers Album or Anthony and the Johnsons? The Singles Chart
The great question in this weeks chart was if James Blunt could cling onto the top spot with Youre beautiful for an amazing 3 weeks? Well, the answer is yes, Blunt fended off the top ten's two new entries from Daniel Powter (intit the year of the ballad?) and Eminem (JK is not sure) to keep his place, whilst the ever-present Crazy Frog still refused to leave the chart, hanging on at number ten.
The top ten singles:
