My Tunes

Today’s My Tunes ‘selector’ was postman Rob Smith from Sandy, Bedfordshire. Personally, I think this guy has a classic taste in music of such variation. Rob named this selection ‘Oh my god I can’t believe it’ like the line from the Kaiser Chiefs song but instead chose to feature their new song instead…

“My playlist is as random as my CD collection; I have everything from Elvis to 50 Cent and more. I love any music and will listen to anything.”

Features

Some celeb gossip for you now…apparently Geri Halliwell is pregnant (with who is not confirmed), Jennifer Aniston has finally gotten over Brad Pitt (you go girl!) and has gone public with Vince Vaughan proving everyone’s assumptions right. Charlotte Church, Scarlett Johanssen and Rachel Stevens are loud and proud of their curvy statures. Too right! Who’s had enough of seeing skinny celebs and their 10 day magic diets in the tabloids? Michelle Mc Manus has reportedly lost 8 stone. Maybe we’ll be hearing a new single to go with her new image too.

Jk and Joel remix Craig David’s new song with ‘Caravan of Love’ which go quite well together even though both songs are quite naff.

Jk has developed frankly what I would call a strange crush for ‘Property Ladder’s’ Sarah Beeney. He’s so smitten with her that he even played a segment of the show and declared ON NATIONAL RADIO that he would want nothing more than to marry her. I can not believe my ears. I mean, what has the world come to?

The lads read out a scary piece from The Sun which states that our grandchildren will never see’1 penny pieces, snow, cod and fish, bumble bees, record shops, video players, coastline?, hopscotch, land line phones, tripe, pancake racing??? And get this…….the NIGHT SKY!!!!’ I mean what the flip is all that about? If anyone knows anything about these strange yet factual? facts then please inform me because I dread that I will never see the black of the night sky again!

Office Clearout

Today an apple frisby, some promo t-shirts and 3 official Soccer 6 t-shirts were up for grabs.A game of ‘Hit and Miss’ was played where two listeners had to guess which songs were a hit or miss and all the songs had a ‘comical’ link to the items for giveaway. E.g. Christina Milian’s lucky-dip it low? When will the puns stop honestly? Dread to see what’s on offer for the next day

If you HAD to……?

The choice was between Camilla Parker Bowles and Claire Balding. Jk was for the first with quite an obscene justification stating that Camilla would be more filthy….*shudders* .However I do not recall it being stated exactly WHO was to join the other ugly ducklings in the ‘If you HAD to….?’ Hall of Fame although I have a feeling it was Claire.

Chris goes home to Leeds

My Tunes

Martin Oolie from Leeds was in control of My Tunes this morning. He chose to call this playlist simply ‘Oolie’s Tunes’, Oolie being his surname.

Love Generation – Bob Sinclair

Made of Stone – Stone Roses

Breakdown – Jack Johnson

Traffic – Stereophonics

Today’s Features

Joel reveals a funny story starting off with how he was looking forward to a cosy night in watching Lost (along with every other obsessive fan in the country). So, he goes to a coffee shop earlier on in the day, comes home and realises he’s only left his jacket in the coffee shop. He goes back to ask for it and shamefully tells of the contents of his pockets so as to identify specifically and he’s got a WESTLIFE album in there. The new one, shame on him. He then goes home and as he’s all settled down the woman from the flat above informs him that her ceiling is leaking and that can only be due to Joel’s recently exploding toilet. Is quite funny when you think about it but let’s just give him a sympathy sigh for all his bad luck. Awwwwww.

4 Robbie tickets were up for grabs this morning for an intimate gig of 50 beloved  fans. Giggly girl friends Emily, Madeleine and Verity were on air to show their enthusiasm and Madeleine was left on her own for a moment to answer a question which won the girls those golden tickets. Congratulations girls and enjoy yourselfs.

If You HAD To

Janice Battersby (from Corrie) is the latest addition to the ‘Would You….Hall Of Fame’. When the listeners were given a choice between her and Janet Street Porter their minds were already made up although JK was quite surprised and debated slightly too much about it…..really let the cat out of the bag on that one mate!

JKs House getting broken into!

JK was rudely awoken this morning by a crashing sound coming from his kitchen, so after grabbing a crowbar, which was under his bed (like you do), went down to the kitchen to find that no one was there and that a fox had been through his outside bin. JK felt very stupid, although Joel jokingly said that it could have been Vernon looking for something to eat after been kicked out by his wife (the one of of Strictly Come Dancing). Was it Vern?

jk16.jpg

If you had to......

Today was Ann Robinson V Carol Vorderman, and Carol won with 98% (out of those two I would agree with that). She now joins the legend list that includes Arsene Wenger, Sharon Osborne, Paul O Grady and Pat Butcher; I still think this feature is disturbing for early in the morning, you have these thoughts for the rest of the day. SICK !

Robbie Competition

No Non-Sponsered Hour for this....
As you know Robbie Williams is doing an exclusive gig to Radio 1 for 50 people, today JK and Joel were giving away tickets to this exclusive concerts. According to the boys its the best chance to win as no one is up at that time of day, they phoned Jo back (who got through to play), but they only got through to his answer phone with Joel leaving a kind 'sod you, youve missed it message', bet he was gutted.
Eventually they found a new caller called Emma, who is the biggest Robbie fan ever. Her friend Jo didnt know that Robbies co-writer on misunderstood and Radio was Steven Duffy. She had said Guy Chambers, so Emma did not win the tickets. What a shame.

Mir Cat Manor

Its the show that everyone is talking about (well JK is ), along with Trev on the text who was in mourning because Shakespeare has died (no not the stupid writer that taunts kids up and down the country). JK is very upset. I dedicate this review to you Shakespeare.

This Picture? Just for Randomnesses sake

Features

Listeners text in to try and guess what are the most unexpected photos you get back from your holidays. It was revealed to be: When mates do their infamous Women Impressions. Im not even going to ask!
JK and Joel pose the question of If you HAD to, as in if your life depended on it, Would You...erm..lets just say choose Jamie Oliver OR Gordon Ramsey. Twas a shock to the boys when 67% of listeners said that they WOULD Ramsey practically dismissing Oliver as inexperienced, compared to Ramsey who was described by one fan as having a bigger lunchbox. Alright, alright lets not get to graphic here. This IS a breakfast show. But I would probably have to go with Gordon also (I mean if my life DEPENDED on it!) as he probably would be slightly more knowledgable (on food of course)- but Jamie will still do for those school dinners. The dictator of Hells Kitchen will now join Pat Butcher, Paul OGrady and Sharon Osbourne in the 'Would you......' Hall of Fame.

Celebrity Gossip

Lisa Scott Lee has now changed her mind on that shocking statement she recently made about her decision to give up making music altogether if her current single doesnt get its way into the Top 10. She now claims (or rather threatens) that if the single does not get a top 10 then she will reform Steps. So Im begging you all now to BUY the single so as we are not subjected to the disaster that Steps were and frankly always will be.
Eminem has retired??? He is due to release his Greatest Hits album and then hes off to produce and be a dad.
Cheryl Tweedy has turned to Posh Spice for some style advice especially as she has many matches to attend these days due to her fiancé being Ashley Cole. Rooster get booed off stage at Londons Hardrock Cafè. (I mean WHO would do that? Cough!)

Non Sponsered Hour

Probably one of the best prizes yet, Andrew from Airways Airport gives away a hangliding flight with 3 times World Champion, Julie/Judy (lots of time spent arguing over WHAT her name was really) Leddon. Enthusiastic competitiors Erin and Dawn called in for a chance to win this brilliant reward. They played 'Jet or Joke?'. This game entiled giving Airline names some which were real (Jet) and some fake (Joke). Congratulations to Dawn who was the lucky winner of the hangliding flight.

If your life depended on it!

So this is JK and Joels new game: "Would you if your life dependent on it?" last Thursday was Pat Butcher v Big Mo-Pat Butcher one and yesterday we had Paul O Grady V Sve-Paul O Grady winning.
Today we have Sharon Osborne V Kelly Osborne-the winner was Sharon.
This feature is disturbing and I dont want to talk about it anymore.

JK and Joel invited to 10 Downing Street

He could be the next PM dont you know!
brown.jpg

So JK and Joel got a letter from Gordon Brown and were invited to a 'make your mark' campaign- which is to do with kids showcasing their talent. JK didnt actually know what Gordons Browns title was (chancellor of the Exchequer) but havent decided if they will go yet.

Joel is nearly arrested!

If you listened to yesterdays show you will know that Joel got into a bit of trouble with the Police. Today he finally explained why.
After a Police car was following Joel, he decided to stick his fingers up at them, and got pulled over, the Police were not impressed and to make it worse, Joels Driving License also had out-of-date information on it, so thay left him with a fine. Joel apologized a lot and was let off.
Oops-so what have we learnt from Todays show ???-never stick your fingers up at the police.

The Non Sponsered Hour

Todays Sponsor was Kim from a dancing school in Chorley. She promised to give you 1 hour tuition on any dance you want for example, tap dancing.
Todays game was 'hit or miss', basically guess what songs were a hit or a miss.
Todays overall winner was Phil who has 4 kids and wants to improve his dancing skills for them as they are all very good. Maybe to good. Happy dancing Phil!

headphoens.jpg

Todays 'My Tuner' was Lisa Cherry of of Newcastle. However, she has taken the long and winding round up from Scarbourgh (Joels Homeland).

Why does every girl ALWAYS choose Candi Staton?

The Non Sponsered Hour

chips.jpg

Todays non-sponsered hour sponser was...the ultimate. One word (maybe 2) FROZEN CHIPS. How good is that? A 10 Kilo bag of Chips! Awesome!
James and Mandy were battling it out for the Fresh Chips. Fresh Chips? That just sounds wrong. The game to win was the usual 'Hit or Miss'. The Hit or Miss (es) were all chip related singles. So we're talking about the Chipmunks, City Spud and Chippendales. It was tense (oh yeah!) but the winner was...........Mandy. So, Mandy got a weeks supply of chilled chips or 10 Kilos of Potatoes.

If you had to.......

Joel would
paulogrady.jpg

After the success(?) of Thursdays new feature 'If you had to.....,' the big bosses at Radio 1 have decided to make it a permanant fixture. It breaks the mold you see.
Todays 'If you had to' was one for the girls. So, you have just been shot in the leg by the Russian Mafia and will have to either have sex with Sven OR Paul O' Grady. Which one would you pick? Svens diamond poistion or Paul O' Gradys bit of feather boa? Well the votes poured in and it was......Paul O'Grady! JK and Joel were surprised by this, but a great text came in on 81199 from Leon 'I dont know about you but it will be Paul O'Grady everytime. I feel i have been scwered by Sven hundreds of times already'.

RANDOM BITS AND BOBS

1. JK watched the Match last night and loved it.
2. The Chick flics were ON for Joel last night. This brought up the argument on what was the greatest Chick Flick of all time? There were lots of votes in about this but only 1 winner........DIrty Dancing. Oh I wanna dance with somebody.....I wanna feel the heat with somebody!
3. Uri Geller has bought 37 Antique spoons to decoarte the inside of the school.
4. Trisha Goddard has been axed from Five. Joel thinks it is because she isnt chav enough.

Witty Chat and Banter

Some sort of joke about chewing gum. We are advised NOT to drink orange juice with chewing gum. Yes, I have established this fact and it is not advisable.

Charlotte Church is planning to go on Parkinson but only if her ‘beau’ Gavin can accompany her. When asked to choose between Parkinson and Jonathan Ross, Joel chooses Paul O’Grady (he scares me!). He then cracks up the whole studio by doing his infamous Sven Yorksen and Cheryl Tweedy impressions.

Joel fancies Coleen McLoughlin (Rooney’s missus) and poses the simple question “Would you…...” to the listeners to which 97% reply with Yes. But when the tables were turned only less than 3% “Would” Rooney.

Weather Girls have been instructed to make the weather sound nice however not nice it may be (just don’t mention clouds or brolleys and you’ll be fine)

JK and Joel now have a new obsession…..’Killer Sharks Live’. Never heard of it (doubt I would like to either). All I know is that a Biteometre is involved. I’ll say no more.

Non-Sponsored Hour

Today on non-sponsored hour Jk and Joel gave away a handcrafted mosaic mirror from Rodney ‘The Mirror Man’. Rodney is an 18 year old man from N. Ireland who can’t drive, has no regular income and lives with his parents. He is a media student who sells his mirrors (and sometimes tabletops) for a bit of spare cash. Listeners Ben and Kacy were on the line desperate for the chance to win a signed mirror to add to the décor of their homes. They engaged in a game of ‘Mirror or Made-up?’ in which they each had to guess whether a given headline was featured in The Mirror or just made up. Ben was the proud winner and we can hope to get a picture of his prize on the BBC site soon.

Joel looks somewhat French here- don't you think?

JK’s and Joel’s Problems

Jk is upset that someone asked him if they could have his parking ticket for the car park which had 1.5 hours left, saying that it is very rude for someone to ask you for a your ticket. (nothing wrong with it in my opinion, save some money).

Joel is also annoyed as he couldn’t watch the Wrestling last night as his Satellite wasn’t working, after phoning them up they told him he would have to wait 2 weeks for it to be fixed, so he brought another one (as he got paid finally) but that didn’t work and the satellite company said they would have to send an engineer out for it to be fixed.

Don’t know why he wants to watch the wrestling anyway.

You Should Date A Red Head

According to JK everyone should date a red head before they die, as they are fiery and that you should also have your toes suck, a little to much information, this led to Joel claiming that Jk’s g/f is a redhead, but she isn’t according to JK and he knows as he’s slept with her.

Mir Cats

Did you watch the programme about Mir cats last night???, no neither did I but JK did and was telling us what a great programme it is but also how sad it is as you saw a cat been bitten by a snake and getting weaker, only for the show to end and making you tune in to next week’s show to find out if he lives, I can’t wait ill be tuning in next week. (Really I will). It really makes great radio doesn’t it?

The Non-Sponsored Hour

Today’s prize was an outdoor tap-WOW-Which can be used to fill a paddling pool or wash your car with. Which will be fitted by plumber Steve (who’s company was not advertised).

It’s the biggest quiz on the airwaves, tune in tomorrow to find out what you could win tomorrow. Or if you want to advertise your business email-jkandjoel@bbc.co.uk

That was it for today’s show, not a great show, nothing really much to talk about. Nothing really stood out and Joel sounded very rough.

Got an opinion on today’s show??? Then get to our message board! And remember we still need a show reviewer for Thursday morning email-jkandjoeladmin@hotmail.co.uk, (and remember you don’t have to listen live you can listen from listen again).

Huda will be here tomorrow to review another fantastic JK and Joel show.

Monday 3rd October 2005

The Unoffical Sponsered Hour

Rob from Croyden rung into the studio to ask JK and Joel if they wanted lessons to become Ninjas. Unfortuntly, the boys were washing their hair and so were busy BUT they thought it would be a great idea if they gave the lessons away in a competition.
So, after bigging up the Karate lessons to an almost godlike status they gave the tickets away to a girl called Lindsey who wanted them for her beloved boyfriend. Awwwww..isn't that nice? Say it NINJA!!!!

RANDOM BITS 'N' BOBS
James Bond has apparently been told to wear a condom- sex experts say he is promoting unsafe sex within "the young age group". We say boooooooooo! Imagine James Bond asking Halle Berry to put on his rubber johnny. "What flavour moneypenny?" No. I didn't think so.

Sunday 2nd October 2005

JK and Joel were back this week to bring you the rundown of The Official UK Singles and Albums Chart including some brand new entries from the likes of… The Corrs, Sean Paul, Jamie Cullum, Tatu and the Sugababes.

This week Michelle and Jessica from Liberty X popped into the studio to see just how far their new single would get in the singles chart.(no.5) The boys also gave listeners the opportunity to win VIP tickets to a Ms. Dynamite live recording exclusively for BBC Radio One. Speculations were made over whether swooner James Blunt is really dating one of the Pussycat Dolls. (he could do worse) It’s also predicted that Blunt will blag Christmas number 1. Jk and Joel change their opinions on Miss. Rachel Stevens after having a nice chat with her on TOTP Reloaded (I always knew she was nice). Her new single ‘I said never again…….but here we are’ DOES sound quite Goldfrapp after they mention it.

Retro

This weeks trip down memory lane took us back to the year of 2001. Ahhhh, beginning of the millennium and all. Track samples such as Atomic Kitten – ‘Whole Again’, Five – ‘Lets Dance’, Britney Spears – ‘I’m a Slave for You’, Nelly – ‘Ride Wit Me’, Blue – ‘All Rise’ and S Club 7 – ‘Don’t Stop Moving’ were played. This was also the year when Tom Cruise filed for a divorce from Nicole Kidman after nearly a decade together and Arsenal won the FAA Cup. Nice girl called Amber played ‘My Name Is……’ on the air and won those VIP tickets to see Ms. Dynamite plus some original artwork from the album signed by diva herself.

Album Chart

Well it looks like David Gray has been knocked off the top spot by a new entry from Katie Melua with her 2nd album Piece by Piece. If you were a fan of her last album I’m sure you’ll like this one as 9 Million Bicycles displays the same overall mellow, chilled vibe. Bit boring if you ask me, time for a change of scenery……Glad to hear Barbara Streisand has slipped a few places down the chart but still in the top ten (darn) Lets try and get Ian Brown Greatest Hits back to a respectable position in the top ten for next week……..

10. Hayley Weston – Odyssey

9. Kelly Clarkson – Breakaway

8. Kanye West – Late Registration

7. Barbara Streisand – Guilty Too

6.  Bon Jovi – Have a Nice Day

5. KT Tunstall- Eye to the Telescope

4.  Jamie Cullum – Catching Tales

3. James Blunt – Back to Bedlam

2.  David Gray – Life In Slow Motion

1. Katie Melua – Piece by Piece

Singles Chart

Impressive! Sugababes have managed to claim another number 1 single (their 4th so far). Push the Button was a new entry which flew in at the top spot and it’s catchy tune has proved very popular among listeners. Heidi from the group was on the phone, calling from Amsterdam where the group were playing that night and was very happy with the news(although didn’t sound too surprised) Besides that I think the top ten is in need of a desperate re-vamp as I’ve heard more than enough from Pussycat Dolls and Daniel Powter. Can Bloc Party or Starsailor turn things around next week? Join JK and Joel next Sunday for the Official UK Singles and Albums Chart on Radio 1….

1. (-) Sugababes - 'Push The Button'
2. (1) Pussycat Dolls Ft. Busta Rhymes - 'Don't Cha'
3. (3) Sean Paul - 'We Be Burnin''
4. (2) Kanye West ft. Jamie Foxx - 'Gold Digger'
5. (-) Liberty X - 'Song 4 Lovers'
6. (6) Daniel Powter - 'Bad Day'
7. (5) Katie Melua - 'Nine Million Bicycles'
8. (-) Tatu - 'All About Us'
9. (7) Mylo vs. Miami Sound Machine - 'Doctor Pressure'
10. (-) Charlotte Church - 'Call My Name'

JKs Woman Troubles

So JK has had another row with his girlfriend and needs Joel amateur advice. But said that he didnt want to talk about it on air.

Then Sarah from Ipswich phoned in and asked what the problem was.JK said it was to do with him not putting the effort into their relationship as he hadnt seen much of her recently.

When Sarah asked why he didn't see more of her Joel pointed out that it was because they had gigs to go to at the weekend, where there would be temptation. Then JK realized it was Joels fault for his relationship problems due to comments like that.

JK and Joels Guests

Jk and Joel said that between 5 and 6 everyday they will talk about previous guests they have met on the chart show every Sunday from 4. They will talk about the good ones and the crap ones.

A crap guest was the Bodyrockers and, according to JK, so was Simone Webbe (the bloke from blue) as he sung a jingle for the show: but didnt know JKs name.

Todays featured guest was Jem:

jem5.jpg

They were discussing when they played football and their man to man marking e.g. JK pulling her bra straps (but it wasnt sexual!) it was man to man marking, they also discussed when their producer walked in on her in the changing room. They also told us some goss: she is dating a dancer of of her video.

Paper Review

JK and Joel were looking through the papers and discussed Charlotte Church being caught in a leather outfit as well as Christina Aguileras Hen Night. Christinas Hen Night was a Mexican Pub Crawl, then JK mentioned that she would be the perfect person to meet on a hen night: rather than Sharon from Blackpool with an L plate stuck on her dress partying at Weatherspoons (im sure the people in Blackpool are nice).
Joel was also in the paper for swearing on Britains worst driver- but he claimed he didnt.: he said doing.

WHAT WE LEARNED FROM TODAYS SHOW:
Page 3 pinups will become illegal to to pin up in a work place from Saturday. In a new EU law, it can land you in deep trouble-getting sacked. If one is pinned up in your work place it is apparently sexual harassment????, so JK and Joel are going to pin as much up as they can up before Saturday.

That was it for Todays show. Overall, a good show with some entertaining banter, I will return next Tuesday, but do you think you can do a better review?
We need someone to do Wednesday and Thursdays review! Are you interested ???? email- jkandjoeladmin@hotmail.co.uk
( you dont have to listen live- you can listen from listen again,)

My Tunes

This is the feature where you hijack Radio 1 for 1 hour. Its not like "Your Call" with Scott Mills. You choose the music. For one Hour. All up to you. How good is that? Lisa Bowron from Coventry was the first My Tuner.

'It's a mixture of rock, indie and good old cheese. They are the tunes that made me.  They helped me too get through a lot of things, some good, bad and sad. So that's why I have picked a random group of songs."

First ever single Stereophonics - A Thousand Trees: Madness - It Must Be Love: Placebo -  Every Me, Every You: Hard-Fri - Living For The Weekend: Mylo - Doctor Pressure: Guns 'n' Roses - Sweet Child O'Mine: Guilty Pleasure Take That feat. Lulu - Relight My Fire Oldie But Goodie The Smiths - What Difference Does It Make White Stripes - My Doorbell Movie Soundtrack Duran Duran - A View To A Kill Blur - Coffee & TV: Savage Garden - Crash 'n' Burn Album Soundtrack Green Day - Basket Case Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot: Linkin Park - Runaway

Who the hell are we broadcasting too?

JK and Joel decided they need to get out there and "touch" their listerners of the Early Breakfast Show in a quest to find outwho is listening to the show? Peados, Psychos and Insomniacs. And Farmers. But thats the same thing isn't it?

1. Aidy was delivering stuff to Woolworths. He couldnt open the back to find out what he was delivering so JK and Joel tried to guess for him. Guesses include Pick n Mix, Cds and Refugees.

2. Gary was taking Embalming Fluid (what you soak dead people in) to Undertakers down South. How pleasant at 5.13 in the morning. He wants to be cremated when he dies. FACT!

3. Dazla is on his way to Belfast for the World Toilet Summit. This is wear all people around the world sit around in a conference to talk about events in the wash closet. Best toilet is Armitage Shanks and Heavy Duty Bleach is the best chemical to use to wash away any unsightly chemicals. How interesting. He will be back on Thursday to give us some more info and piccies.

toilet2.jpg
This is a Vienna Toilet

A great Toilet Debate was raised after Dazla appeared on the show and they came up with 5 makes;
1. Armitage Shanks
2. Royal Dalton (Heated Ones)
3. BoschMaxx
..and 2 others which I cant remember.

David Blunkett's strangely fit girlfriend was raised. She is on the front of the Sun today and JK rasied the slightly contrivertial matter over how you can tell if a girl is fit if you are blind. The issue was no longer raised.

Joel won Britains Worst Celebrity Driver!

If you didn't know (not many people watched it) Joel Hogg won Britains Worst Celebrity Driver. BIG CONGRATS!!! However, he still hasnt won any money and he cant work out whether he lost or won the contest.
They also realised that Edith Bowman and him have now both go on reality shows, as well as future R1 DJ Reggie Yates. So, they decided that the campaign must begin for Moyles on Celebrity Big Brother! That would be good!
Highlights of the 3 weeks in which they were doing the contest were reciting poetry with Brian Blessed, Brian Blessed fighting with John Knoakes and seeing Jenny Falconer do the splits. Chris Moyles really wants to see that so Joel will email it to him during the Brekkie Show! Regardless of whether he has a girldfriend.

worstdriver.jpg
Thats why they won!

No handover to Moyles today, however he did play the Chucklevision theme tune and predicted that Radio 1 will be down the drain in a week. Nice.
(Its all banter, Chris loves Joel)
